On 11th May, 1998, India achieved a major technological breakthrough by successfully carrying out nuclear tests at Pokhran. The day also marks the successful testing of Trishul missile and the first flight of the indigenous aircraft Hansa 3. Hence the day is commemorated as the National Technological day every year.

National Science Day is celebrated every year to spread a message about the Importance of science in the daily life of the people, to display all the activities, efforts and achievements in the field of science for human welfare. It is also celebrated to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect by Nobel laureate Shri C.V. Raman. The major idea of the celebration is to discuss all the issues and implement new technologies for the development in the field of science and to give an opportunity to the scientifically minded citizens in the country and to encourage the people as well as popularize the Science and Technology.
Centre for Environmental Science and Engineering (CESE)
Techkriti is the annual international technical & entrepreneurship festival of IIT Kanpur. Techkriti was first held in 1995 and has since grown into one of the largest technical festivals in Asia. The festival is held over four days every March, attracting participants from every corner of the country as well as from abroad, comprising a total footfall of over 40,000 from all over India and abroad.
Antaragni is the annual cultural festival of Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, held in the month of October, and is one of the popular college festivals in India. It is a four-day-long festival, attracting participation from over 200 colleges of India. It includes professional shows, competitions, amateur rock bands, Ustads and Pandits, fashion shows, Indian folk dances, and other events.
Udghosh is the annual sports meet of IIT Kanpur. It is one of the largest intercollegiate sports festivals of India with a footfall of more than 60,000! It serves as an excellent platform for students of various institutes to exhibit and enhance their skills.Participants from all over the country gather to witness marvellous displays of passion, zeal, drama, and respect. Udghosh, in the truest sense, is an exhibition of sporting fervour, and success in the meet has been ratified by continued success higher up in the sporting hierarchy.
Prabandhan is the Annual Management Conclave of IIT Kanpur. The objective of the conclave is to provide a common platform for academicians, industrialists, corporate professionals, research scholars and young management students to share their knowledge and experiences, to update and get updated on current and upcoming trends in the field of business management, and to discuss the problems faced by the 21st century businesses.
